Prime Minister Narendra Modi Last year, in the Mann Ki Baat program on November 26, 2023, people took seriously the appeal of destination weddings at the best places available in India instead of destination weddings abroad, due to which this year destination weddings were organized in the country itself. The number has increased significantly.
There has been no official survey yet about destination weddings by Indians abroad, so it is difficult to estimate how much this business will be, but still after the Prime Minister’s statement, when an attempt was made to investigate the matter, it was found to be huge. It is estimated that every year about 5 thousand destination weddings would take place in foreign countries, in which the expenditure can be estimated to be around Rs 50 thousand crore to Rs 75 thousand crore.
PM had expressed concern about destination wedding abroad
National President of Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) BC Bhartia said that if there is a meaningful discussion on the concern expressed by Prime Minister Modi on destination weddings abroad, then it will be a boost to the country’s domestic trade and the Indian economy. There may be an initiative to bring possible change.
Foreign countries are getting big business
Bhartia said that it is a well-known fact that a section of people in India consider destination weddings abroad as a status symbol and hence consider it a matter of pride to get married abroad instead of having a wedding ceremony in the country, due to which a section of the people of India Big business goes to foreign countries.
