Port Blair renamed as Sri Vijaya Puram, Shah said – free from symbols of slavery

Union Home Minister amit shah On Friday announced that Port Blair, the capital of Andaman and Nicobar Islands has been renamed as Sri Vijaya Puram.

Amit Shah wrote on social media platform X, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is trying to free the country from all symbols of slavery Narendra Modi Inspired by the resolution of the 19th century, today the Home Ministry has decided to rename Port Blair as ‘Shri Vijayapuram’. The name ‘Shri Vijayapuram’ reflects our struggle for independence and the contribution of Andaman and Nicobar in it.
