Rain in UP and cold in Delhi! Weather patterns are going to change in North India, know the latest updates

IMD Weather Update: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday has predicted that cold wave will continue for the next seven days in many states across the country. There is a possibility of heavy rain in southern India due to the low pressure system in the Bay of Bengal. Due to western disturbance, there is a possibility of cold wave, dense fog and snowfall in the northern areas.

A low pressure area has formed over the south-east Bay of Bengal, which is influenced by the cyclonic circulation of upper air. This system may further intensify over the next 24 hours and move west-northwestwards and eventually reach southwest Bay of Bengal near Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka by 11 December.

Why will the weather patterns change?

The Western Disturbance is affecting the North, causing light to moderate rain or snowfall in the Himalayan region and dense fog in the northern plains and parts of the eastern states. Cold wave conditions are likely to persist in some parts of Rajasthan also. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain at many places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal from 10 to 13 December, while there is a possibility of heavy rain in some coastal areas on 12 December.

There will be rain, snowfall and dense fog in these states

A similar situation may be seen in Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on 11 and 12 December. There is a possibility of rain in Kerala and Mahe between 11th and 13th December and there is a possibility of heavy rain at some places.

There will be light to moderate rain or snowfall in the western Himalayan region between December 8 and 11. There may be light rain in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh on 8 and 9 December. Dense fog is likely to occur over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during late night and morning hours till December 9, while over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim in the next few days. Similar situation is expected to prevail in some parts of India also.

There will be fog in the morning in Himachal Pradesh from 10th to 12th December. There is a possibility of cold wave in North Rajasthan from 9 to 13 December and the temperature will drop significantly.
