Hyderabad Rains: Rain has created havoc in Telangana. Many districts of the state have received heavy rainfall, due to which low-lying areas have been flooded. Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red, orange and yellow alerts for all districts in Telangana on Sunday (September 1).

Telangana Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari has directed all district collectors to implement safety measures in view of the forecast of heavy rains across the state in the next two days. It has also been decided to close schools and colleges due to rain. After heavy rains, rivers are in spate in Mahabubabad, Narayanpet, Khammam and other districts. • The Meteorological Department has issued red, orange and yellow alerts for all districts of Telangana. Teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are currently stationed in Hyderabad and Vijayawada and can be deployed if an emergency arises.
• The state government has directed that control rooms be set up in every district collector’s office, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and the state secretariat. The Hyderabad district administration has been directed to appoint an officer specifically to monitor overflowing drains.
• Hyderabad Collector has said that in view of the forecast of heavy rains, holiday has been declared in primary and secondary schools on Monday, September 2. Keeping in mind the safety of children, all government and private schools will remain closed.
• Heavy rains have been predicted in Hyderabad. The city may witness moderate to heavy rains or storms in the next 48 hours. Also, the winds will blow at a speed of 30-40 km/h during this period. People living in low-lying areas have been alerted.
• The Meteorological Department in Hyderabad has said that very heavy to very heavy rains may occur at isolated places in Adilabad, Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Mahbubnagar, Narayanpet and other districts on Sunday. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for these cities.
