Farmers Lathicharge: In Haryana’s Kurukshetra, hundreds of farmers protesting for fair prices of crops were lathicharged. The police forcibly removed the farmers who were protesting on the road and during this time force was also used. Now Rakesh Tikait, the leader of the Bharatiya Kisan Union, has given a big statement on this matter. Rakesh Tikait condemned this lathicharge and said that this is the first lathicharge on MSP in the country, now a bigger movement will have to be done than the Delhi movement.
Rakesh Tikait’s answer regarding the strike
Rakesh Tikait, who was the big face of the farmer’s movement in Delhi against the agricultural laws, has once again warned of a big movement. Regarding the lathicharge in Kurukshetra, Tikait said that if there is lathicharge, there will be jam too. Rakesh Tikait replied even on the strike of the wrestlers. He said that at present talks are being held with Sports Minister Anurag Thakur. Dharnas, panchayats and meetings regarding this matter will continue in the future as well.
Increasing anger after lathicharge
Even today, roads are being blocked at different places in Haryana in protest against the ruckus between farmers and police in Kurukshetra and the arrest of farmer leader Gurnam Singh Chadhuni. The farmers are angry with the lathicharge and the Haryana government is being severely criticized. In protest against this, farmers blocked the Gannaur Shahpur road in Sonipat’s Gannaur, while in Gohana, farmers blocked the Panipat Rohtak road near Bheswan village.
All the protesting farmers are shouting slogans against the government. The farmers are demanding the release of their leader Gurnam Singh Chadhuni. Sonipat police has reached the spot after getting the information about the blockade by the farmers, in view of the situation, efforts are being made to convince the farmers.
Why were the farmers protesting
In Shahbad of Kurukshetra, Haryana, hundreds of farmers were protesting regarding the MSP of sunflower crop. The farmers blocked the road for this and sat there. After this Haryana Police started action. The farmers were chased away and during this there was fierce lathi charge. At the same time, some farmer leaders were also taken into custody. Farmers say that the MSP of sunflower crop is ₹ 6,400, but farmers are forced to sell the crop for ₹ 4,000-4,500.
