Aryan Khan Case: Former Zonal Director of Mumbai Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Sameer Wankhede was granted interim relief by the Delhi High Court on Wednesday (May 17) in the Aryan Khan cruise drugs case. The High Court has stayed any action, including arrest, against Wankhede till May 22. Apart from this, Wankhede has been asked to file a petition in the Bombay High Court.
This instruction has come at a time when the CBI has called Aryan Khan on Thursday (May 18) for questioning regarding the cruise drugs case. Wankhede got relief on the basis of writ petition. In this, a chat between senior officials of Wankhede and NCB has come to the fore. It has been revealed that senior NCB officials themselves wanted Aryan Khan to be kept in NCB custody for maximum number of days.
What did the CBI allege?
The CBI has alleged that Wankhede demanded a bribe of Rs 25 crore from the family of actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan for allegedly not implicating him in a drugs case. In this regard, the CBI had recently registered an FIR after raiding the locations of Wankhede.
The CBI has registered a case against Wankhede and others under provisions related to bribery under the Prevention of Corruption Act besides sections 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 388 (extortion by threat) of the Indian Penal Code on the complaint of the NCB.
Anti-drugs agency NCB arrested Aryan Khan on October 3, 2021. Khan remained in jail for about 25 days and was granted bail by the Bombay High Court on October 28, 2021. While giving a clean chit to Aryan Khan on May 27, 2022, the NCB had said that no evidence has been found against him.
