Imran Khan Arrested: Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan was arrested from the High Court of Islamabad on Tuesday (May 9). After which there has been a tension-like atmosphere in the country. With the arrest of Imran, his angry supporters intensified violent demonstrations in several major cities. Imran Khan is facing charges like treason, terrorism, and inciting violence. Imran had come from Lahore to appear in the Islamabad court. While Imran was undergoing the biometric process in the court, army personnel arrested Khan after breaking the window of the court and beating up the lawyers and security personnel. According to Pakistan’s Home Minister Rana Sanaullah, the former Prime Minister has been arrested in the Al Qadir Trust case.

- Around 4,000 supporters of Imran stormed the top commander’s official residence in Lahore. The protesters also set police vehicles on fire and blocked major roads.
- The protesters also vandalized the headquarters of the Pakistan Army in the garrison city of Rawalpindi. Along with raising pro-Khan slogans.
- According to the information received from the official Twitter account of Islamabad Police, Imran has been arrested in the corruption case related to the Al Qadir Trust case. Imran went to the court to seek bail for the cases registered against him. Fawad Chaudhary, a senior Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader, has described the arrest of the 71-year-old former cricket star as a “kidnapping”.
- According to information received from police and government officials, Khan was taken to the garrison town of Rawalpindi, near Islamabad, for questioning at the offices of the National Accountability Bureau. Apart from this, the police said that his medical checkup was also to be done.
- Sources told news agency ANI that the Indian Army is keeping a close watch on the situation in Pakistan. Apart from this, strict vigil is being kept on the border by the army.
