Manipur Violence: Before the Maharashtra assembly elections, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction) has cornered PM Modi and the NDA government through its mouthpiece Saamana. In the editorial of ‘Saamana’ dated September 14, 2024, it was written that the Modi government is flying pigeons to stop the Russia-Ukraine war, while the fire of violence has flared up again in Manipur in the North East. The Modi government is mum on the violence there.
According to Saamana, seeing the anger of the students, Manipur Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya left Manipur and went straight to Assam’s capital Guwahati. This state has been battling ethnic violence on the Myanmar border for the last one and a half years. More than 200 people have lost their lives in this fire so far. The central government has handed over the people of Manipur to BJP CM Biren Singh and Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya who fled from Manipur to Assam.
“PM Modi and Amit Shah cannot escape responsibilities”
The Shiv Sena mouthpiece further said that PM Modi and Union Home Minister amit shah We cannot escape responsibility and accountability. Manipur burning in the fire of violence again and again is the sin of the negligence of the Modi government at the centre. Putting a state of the country on the mouth of a volcano of violence, letting that volcano erupt, letting the people there burn in it and releasing peace doves for the Russia-Ukraine war. Boasting about the ceasefire there and sitting tight-lipped on the Manipur violence is a reflection of Modi’s poor mentality.
Why has PM Modi not visited Manipur yet?
PM via Saamana Narendra Modi Taking a dig at him, it was said that the Prime Minister has time to meet Putin and Zelensky, but he does not have time to meet the common people of Manipur who have been burning in communal fire for one and a half years. PM Modi traveled for 16 hours by train in war-torn Ukraine and got applause from devotees, but he has not yet had time to make a brief visit to the violence-hit part of Manipur. He does not think that he should meet the common people of Manipur and console them.
Why are Modi-Shah delaying in removing CM in Manipur?
According to the mouthpiece, PM Modi wants the people of Ukraine and Russia to be free from war. He makes efforts for this but he does not think that the people of Manipur should be freed from the fire of ethnic violence. Has anyone stopped him from doing this? Why are Modi-Shah, who change the Chief Ministers in other BJP-ruled states in a jiffy, procrastinating in removing the ineffective Chief Minister in Manipur? What is the ‘compulsion’ of the Modi government in not appointing a full-time Governor in a sensitive state like Manipur and giving additional charge of Manipur to the Governor of Assam?
PM Modi is ‘careless’ about Manipur
It was also written in Saamana that even after the public reprimand by the Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat, the central government has turned a deaf ear to the caste violence in Manipur. The central government, which became ‘alert’ after stone pelting on a Ganesh immersion procession in Gujarat, is silent even after the remote-controlled drone attacks in Manipur. Students are furious due to these drone attacks, but the rulers of the center are not shaken. Even the violence-hit areas of Manipur are now divided on the basis of caste. All this is terrible. Yet our Prime Minister is ‘worried’ more about the Russia-Ukraine war than Manipur, but he is ‘careless’ about Manipur.
Don’t you have any ‘formula’ for peace in Manipur?
According to the Shiv Sena mouthpiece, “It is being said that the Modi government has given a ‘four-point formula’ to Russia to stop the Russia-Ukraine war, but what about Manipur? Don’t you have any ‘formula’ for peace in Manipur? If you don’t have that, then set fire to your ‘four-point formula’. First extinguish the fire in Manipur and then take the ‘fire brigade’ of that formula to Russia-Ukraine.”
