‘Should I grant bail to the accused?’, the judge got angry at the delay of the CBI lawyer, know what happened next

Kolkata Rape Murder Case: During the hearing of the rape and murder case of a trainee doctor in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, the court reprimanded the CBI investigating officer for his absence and the investigating agency’s lawyer for arriving 40 minutes late. The court sarcastically asked whether it should grant bail to the main accused.

The court expressed a strong attitude towards the absence of the CBI investigating officer. Regarding the late arrival of the lawyer and the non-participation of the investigating officer in the hearing, the court said that this shows the lethargic attitude of the agency. After hearing both the sides, the magistrate has sent Roy to judicial custody for 14 days.

TMC attacked BJP

After the court developments, the ruling Trinamool Congress in Bengal targeted the BJP. The Trinamool Congress said that this shows ‘blatant disregard for justice’. The party wrote from its official handle on X, “During the hearing of the RG Kar case today, the CBI investigating officer and the public prosecutor were missing from the hearing. Is this not a sheer insult to the victim? A blatant disregard for justice? Where is the demand for accountability? Has the BJP, the Communist Party lost its voice?”

Questions arising on CBI

In fact, last month the Bengal government handed over the case to the CBI after strong opposition from the BJP. Trinamool Congress leader Chandrima Bhattacharya said, “The court got angry, waited and still no one came. We want to ask what happened? Why is the opposition not reacting to this?” She further said, “It has been more than 24 days and 570 hours since the CBI took over the investigation, what has been the result? The whole country is asking. This shows that the CBI is not taking the case seriously.”
