India-Bangladesh Border: Tension has increased on the India-Bangladesh border. Some people raised anti-India slogans. This incident happened when Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was on a visit to Karimganj at the India-Bangladesh border. Bangladeshi citizens posted at the Zakiganj immigration post raised provocative slogans against India through loudspeakers.
According to a report by India Today NE, these people shouted slogans saying, “Those who have homes in Bangladesh should leave India immediately. Boycott Indian goods.” This incident happened after the recent political upheaval in Bangladesh. Especially after the coup of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government, many incidents of atrocities on minorities and Hindus have come to light in Bangladesh, which shows the increasing tension in India-Bangladesh relations.
The number of Bangladeshi intruders in India is increasing
Earlier on August 20, the police arrested Ali Hussain, who is allegedly a middleman involved in illegally entering Bangladeshi citizens into India. Hussain was arrested in Hajirhat village of South Salmara district for smuggling people across the river in exchange for money. He is also accused of sheltering infiltrators and helping them infiltrate into India.
Police had taken Bangladeshi woman into custody
Before Ali Hussain’s arrest, a Bangladeshi woman was detained in Dhubri on August 19 and later handed over to Bangladeshi authorities. The woman claimed that she and a large group of hers had entered India with the help of several brokers, including Ali Hussain, and that they had paid him 2,500 Bangladeshi Taka for his services.
