Farmers In Wrestlers Protest: Farmers broke police barricades on Monday (May 8) to join the wrestlers’ protest against Wrestling Federation of India President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. The Delhi Police has denied any untoward incident at the protest site. Also, these police barricades have been welded together. In purported videos related to the incident, farmers were seen trying to enter the protest site by climbing over the barricades and even dragging and pushing some of these.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Pranav Tayal said that the incident took place when some farmers were in a hurry to reach the protest site. He said that the barricades were removed to take the farmers to the protest site and after that the meeting took place peacefully.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police said in a tweet, “A group of farmers was taken to Jantar Mantar. They were in a hurry to reach the picket site and some of them climbed over the barricades which fell down and were removed. Policemen removed the barriers to facilitate their entry.”
Delhi Police made this appeal
He said that the protesters reached the protest site and the meeting went on peacefully. Police insisted that there were no clashes with protesters and that police at the site acted to facilitate protesters and ensure peaceful gatherings. In a tweet on the official Twitter handle of Delhi Police, it was said that everyone is requested not to believe in fake news.

Wrestlers are sitting on dharna at Jantar Mantar
Police said that facilities are being given to the protesters at Jantar Mantar. The entry is being regulated through DFMD to ensure security. Please be peaceful and follow the law. Wrestlers have been sitting on a dharna at Jantar Mantar since April 23, demanding action against the chief of the Wrestling Federation of India on allegations of sexual harassment.
