Threats to blow up flights coming from many places, 11 social media profiles identified, on high alert

Flights Bomb Threats: For the past few days, the rumor about a bomb on a flight has been spreading rapidly in India. Regarding airline threat, security agencies are busy identifying such accounts from where fake threats are coming. Regarding the continuous threat calls being received by the airlines, sources said that at least 11 fake user profiles have been identified and marked for spreading these dangerous messages.

More fake profiles will surface

Central security agencies are on high alert regarding airline threats as these rumors increase tension and disrupt flight operations. Fake messages are mainly coming from social media platform X. Investigators fear that as the investigation progresses, more fake profiles may come to light. Security agencies are continuously interacting with social media platforms to find out the source of these messages and information is being obtained.

Airline operators were asked to be cautious

Central security agencies have urged airline operators to remain alert. Officials stress the seriousness of social media vigilance in national security. Central security agencies are worried about the possibility of increase in these digital threats. 79 flights in India have received bomb threats from Monday night (21 October 2024) to Tuesday (22 October 2024). Only on Tuesday i.e. 22nd October, 43 aircraft were threatened.

Airlines have received about 90 bomb threats in the last 7 days. Airlines have suffered a loss of about Rs 427 crore due to threats being received against planes. Any aircraft that receives a threat is landed as soon as possible and thoroughly investigated. This entire process costs two to three crore rupees. Despite continuous threats to flights, there was no decline in the number of passengers due to festivals.

Where are the calls coming from?

In view of the continuous threats received by airlines, Bomb Threat Assessment Team (BTAC) has been deployed at airports. Sources said that 90 percent of the threat calls have come from abroad. Threat calls coming from the country are only 10 percent. The cyber wing of the Home Ministry is investigating the threat calls coming from abroad, while the local police including security agencies have also been alerted.
