Lloyd Austin New Delhi Visit: US Defense Minister Lloyd Austin reached India from Singapore on Sunday (June 4). His visit is considered important in the direction of further strengthening the defense partnership between India and America. The Pentagon chief was received by US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti. Lloyd has started the third leg of his four-nation tour by reaching India.
US Defense Secretary Lloyd tweeted, “I am returning to India to meet key leaders to discuss strengthening our (India-US) key defense partnership.” Together we are pursuing a shared vision for a free and open Indo-Pacific.

The US Defense Secretary’s visit to New Delhi will primarily focus on continuing efforts to advance new Indo-US defense innovation and industrial cooperation initiatives and expand operational co-operation cooperation between the US-Indian militaries.
Lloyd Austin to meet Defense Minister Rajnath Singh
Detailed information was given by the Pentagon about the visit of the US Defense Minister. According to the information, Lloyd Austin will meet India’s Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and other leaders as the two countries continue to modernize the major Indo-US defense partnership. Austin will meet his counterpart Rajnath Singh with an aim to expand defense-industrial partnership.

Lloyd Austin’s visit to India is also considered important because at the end of this month the Prime Minister Narendra Modi Will go to America. Before coming to India, Austin attended the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore. His first stop was in Tokyo where he met Japanese Defense Minister Yasukazu Hamada and other senior leaders and also met US troops stationed there. He later flew from Japan to Singapore, where he addressed the 20th Shangri-La Dialogue of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS).
