Violence erupts in Manipur! Amit Shah held review meeting, NPP withdrew support from the government. know b


Manipur Violence: Violent protests have increased further after the bodies of three women and three children were found in Manipur. Yesterday i.e. on Saturday, 16th November, the houses of Chief Minister Biren Singh and 10 party MLAs were attacked. The protesters even burnt the houses of the MLAs.

Seeing the worsening of the situation, Manipur Chief Secretary Vineet Joshi has ordered to temporarily suspend internet and mobile data services for two days in the territorial jurisdiction of the currently affected districts Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Kakching, Kangpokpi and Churachandpur. Have ordered.

Big updates related to Manipur violence…

  • The family of Laisharam Herojeet, living in a relief camp of Meitei community in Jiribam district of Manipur, has been killed. His family’s two children, wife, mother-in-law, wife’s sister and his son have been killed. His entire family was taken hostage by suspected Kuki militants on Monday from the town bordering Assam.
  • Police said on Sunday (November 17, 2024) that the bodies of Herojit’s mother-in-law and her two-and-a-half-year-old child were found floating in the river near Jiribam. The child’s decapitated body was found stuck among the branches of a broken tree floating in the river. Hands were missing from the child’s body, while the semi-nude body of the boy’s grandmother was found floating face down in the river.
  • Due to Manipur violence, Union Home Minister Amit Shah canceled his four election rallies in Nagpur and returned to Delhi and also held a review meeting regarding the security arrangements of the state. He instructed the officials to ensure peace in the state. A meeting is to be held tomorrow i.e. Monday also regarding violence.
  • Amidst this violence, the National People’s Party, which is part of the BJP government in Manipur, also announced to withdraw its support. There are 60 assemblies in Manipur, out of which seven members are from the National People’s Party who were supporting the BJP.
  • Meanwhile, the Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum, the main organization representing the Kuki-Jo community, has said that the last rites of the 10 Kuki youths killed in the shootout with the Central Police Force will not be performed until the post-mortem report is handed over to their families.
  • Following the violence in neighboring Manipur, the Mizoram government on Saturday urged people to exercise extreme caution to avoid communal violence in the state.
  • The houses of three out of six MLAs, including Chief Minister N Biren Singh and his son-in-law, have also been vandalized. Not only vandalism but their properties have also been burnt.
  • Officials said security personnel, including Assam Rifles, BSF and state forces, fired several rounds of tear gas shells and rubber bullets to deal with the protesters.
  • Amidst the violence, the state government has asked the central government to withdraw the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA).
  • Due to the Manipur violence, the Central Government had imposed AFSPA on November 14 in the areas under Sekmai, Lamsang, Lamlai, Jiribam, Limkhong and Moirang police stations in Imphal West, Imphal East, Jerobam, Kangpokpi and Bishnupur districts.
  • People belonging to the Kuki community are demanding justice for those killed in this violence. Hundreds of people also protested in Churachandpur on Friday. Kuki organizations have even claimed that those who died were not militants but volunteers from the village.
