Voting will be held in a single phase on November 20 for all 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra. Voting will start at 7 am and will continue till 6 pm. According to the guidelines of the Election Commission of India, the results of the exit poll can be released only after the voting is over in the entire state. Pollsters and media houses can broadcast these predictions for both Maharashtra and Jharkhand from 6.30 pm on November 20.
This ensures that voters will not be influenced by exit poll predictions before voting. Releasing these surveys prematurely could influence undecided voters, which could unduly influence the outcome of the election. Counting of votes will take place on 23 November. According to Section 126A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, exit polls cannot be published until half an hour after the end of voting.
The first phase of voting in Jharkhand was held on November 13 and the second and final phase of voting will be held on November 20 between 7 am to 6 pm. Exit polls for Jharkhand elections will be released after 6.30 pm on 20th November. The contest in Jharkhand is between the leadership of the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
