Tejashwi Yadav said in Madhubani on Saturday (14 September), ‘CM Nitish Kumar is sending CID and Special Branch to our party meetings. We first thought they were journalists in the meeting, but after taking photos or videos, they did not go anywhere and remained in the meeting. Later, when they showed their ID card to reveal their identity, then their identity was revealed. I am being monitored in the party’s internal meetings.’

After the allegations and attack of Tejashwi Yadav, the state government also started retaliating. In this sequence, JDU leader Ashok Chaudhary said, ‘Spying is done by those who are feared. Our leader did not get his father Lalu Yadav spied upon, whom people knew.’ BJP spokesperson Arvind Singh said, ‘The secret meetings you hold with mafias and your people decorated with many sections, CID people go to them so that there is no lapse in your security.’

When Tejashwi’s statement caused a stir in Bihar politics, Congress also came on the front foot. By making Tejashwi’s spying an issue, Congress aimed its arrows of protest at Delhi. Congress spokesperson Anand Mohan said, ‘Both the central government and the state government are doing this kind of work. He said that while Modi is pushing ED, CBI and Income Tax forward at the center, Nitish Kumar is pushing Crime Branch and CID forward in Bihar.’
