Will this player become the captain of RCB in place of Virat? 17 year drought may end in IPL 2025

RCB New Captain 2025: All the teams have geared up for the 18th season of the Indian Premier League i.e. IPL 2025. However, there are some teams which have not yet finalized the name of their captain. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is also included in this. It is being claimed in many media reports that Virat Kohli will once again take charge of RCB. However, in the meantime a new name has emerged regarding the new captain.

South African Faf du Plessis was the captain of RCB in IPL 2024, but the franchise did not buy this player in the IPL 2025 auction. When RCB released Plessis, the news of Virat becoming the captain started coming. However, there is another young player in the team, who can lead the team for many years to come. RCB had also retained this player along with Virat. The name of this young player is Rajat Patidar.

Rajat Patidar is in great form for Madhya Pradesh in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. In his last five innings, Patidar has scored 78, 62, 68, 4 and 36. Patidar has taken the number three position in RCB with his strong play. Apart from being an excellent batsman, he is also an excellent captain. He has also proved this in the current Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Talking about Virat Kohli, he was the captain of RCB for a long time. However, in 2022 he voluntarily relinquished the captaincy. Only after this, RCB handed over the command to Faf du Plessis. However, before the auction there was news that RCB would buy KL Rahul and make him the captain, but nothing like this happened in the auction, whereas KL Rahul was bought by Delhi Capitals for only Rs 14 crore.
