UP By Polls 2024: By-elections are to be held on ten assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh, for which the dates have not been announced yet. SP submitted a memorandum to the Chief Electoral Officer
Samajwadi Party has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Election Officer of UP and complained about irregularities in the election process in Kundarki assembly seat of Moradabad. SP has also demanded an investigation into this. SP has also demanded action against the officials related to this.
What did SP say in its memorandum?
In its memorandum, the SP said, “Changing the BLO and supervisor on the basis of caste and religion before the by-election is undemocratic, unconstitutional and puts a question mark on the conduct of fair elections. The Samajwadi Party demands that the above complaint be taken into immediate cognizance and an inquiry be conducted, the guilty officers and employees be punished and the party be informed about the investigation report and the action taken.”
Why were Muslim-Yadav BLOs removed before the by-election?
SP has alleged that why the block level officers and supervisors have been removed from their posts in Kundarki assembly constituency without any valid reason before the by-election. SP further said that the officers and supervisors who belong to Yadav and Muslim community are being removed from their posts without any valid reason. This is being done when by-elections are to be held on 10 seats in UP.
