Bridges washed away due to floods in North-East, sun still blazing in UP-Delhi, where has the monsoon reached?

Heavy rains on Monday caused massive destruction in the northeastern states, due to which roads and bridges were washed away at many places. Seeing the seriousness of the situation, Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to the Chief Ministers of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam over phone and got information about the situation and the loss. Life has been affected in at least 12 districts of Arunachal Pradesh, while according to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), around 16,000 people have been affected by the floods in 69 villages in four revenue divisions of Dhimaji district.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains in Northeast India and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the next five days. The department said that during the next two days, there is a possibility of heat wave in Uttar Pradesh and adjoining states and severe heat wave at some places. The temperature remains above normal in many parts of Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

Amit Shah called CM Pema Khandu

Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu over phone on Monday and assured all possible assistance from the Center to deal with the situation arising out of heavy rains, flash floods and landslides in the state. According to officials, during the conversation, Shah took information about the affected areas, damage and preparations to provide relief to the people. He assured all possible cooperation from the Central Government for relief work and other necessary assistance.

Amit Shah also called Himanta Biswa Sarma

Amit Shah He also talked to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and took information about the damage caused due to rising water level in rivers. Sharma said in a post on social media that he informed the Home Minister about the ongoing relief and rehabilitation works in the state. Meanwhile, the effect of severe heat continued in many states of North India on Monday also. However, there is a possibility of relief soon with the advance of south-west monsoon.

Delhi still remains hot, temperature near 42 degrees

Heat wave continued in Delhi and the maximum temperature crossed 42 degrees Celsius at most weather stations. For the second consecutive day, the night in the capital remained the hottest of this season. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature in Safdarjung, the base center of the capital, was recorded at 42.2 degrees Celsius, which is five degrees above normal. However, between 4:30 pm and 6:30 pm, a thunderstorm accompanied by lightning struck Delhi and surrounding areas, causing a sharp drop in temperature and strong winds.

Temperature crosses 45 in Sriganganagar, Rajasthan

In Rajasthan too, the scorching heat continued in many areas. Sriganganagar was the hottest place in the state, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 45.1 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature in the capital Jaipur was 40.4 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department said that the conditions are favorable for the advance of the south-west monsoon. Due to its effect, there is a possibility of moderate to heavy rain in many parts of Rajasthan this week, which can provide relief from the heat. According to the department, the northern limit of the south-west monsoon is currently passing through parts of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Bihar.

In which states will monsoon reach within the next 2 days?

IMD said, “Conditions are favorable for the advance of monsoon into parts of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand during the next two to three days.” In Uttarakhand, the maximum temperature in the plains was above normal, while it was recorded normal in the hilly areas. However, the Meteorological Department has predicted a drop of four to six degrees Celsius in the maximum temperature in the state during the next three to four days. The Meteorological Department has issued a forecast of light to moderate rain or thundershowers in many parts of the state for Tuesday. Yellow alert has been issued in view of the possibility of heavy rain at some places in Pauri, Pithoragarh and Bageshwar districts. There is a possibility of lightning, heavy rain and strong winds at a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour at some places in all the hilly districts of the state. A similar warning has also been issued for the plains, especially parts of Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts.

How is the weather of Punjab-UP and Haryana?

Meanwhile, due to scorching heat and high humidity in Punjab, an unprecedented increase in electricity demand was recorded on Monday. This put huge pressure on the state’s power system and Punjab State Electricity Corporation Limited (PSPCL) had to draw record amounts of power from the central grid. According to IMD, the maximum temperatures were recorded much higher than normal at many places in western Uttar Pradesh. In some places of eastern Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh and many areas of Uttarakhand, Haryana and Punjab, the temperature was 3.1 to 5 degrees Celsius above normal.

A dozen villages cut off due to floods in Himachal

Manali-Leh National Highway was closed due to sudden floods in Lahaul-Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh. Officials said that due to this disaster, about a dozen villages have been cut off from the district headquarters. According to local people, the road leading to the district headquarters Keylong has been blocked due to the debris brought with the flood. The important Jobrang bridge connecting remote areas of the district has also been submerged in water.

Officials said that due to sudden floods in Jispa, Manali-Leh highway was closed, while due to floods in Jhalma Nala, it has become impossible to reach many villages. Local people say that the water level of Jhalma drain increased due to melting of snow on the mountain peaks. Videos of this sudden flood are being shared widely on social media. According to officials, 70 RCC unit of Border Roads Organization (BRO) with three machines remained busy throughout the night to restore the Manali-Leh highway.
