CBI registers case against journalist Vivek Raghuvanshi for spying on Army and DRDO

CBI Raids: The CBI took major action on Tuesday (May 16) in the matter of sharing sensitive information related to the army. Officials said the CBI has registered a case against a freelance journalist for allegedly collecting sensitive information about the Defense Research Development Organization (DRDO) and the Army and sharing it with foreign intelligence agencies.

Sources said that a case has been registered against Vivek Raghuvanshi under the provisions of the Official Secrets Act. The CBI alleged that Raghuvanshi collected “sensitive” and “detailed” details of DRDO and Army projects and shared them with foreign intelligence agencies. The agency said that the agency is conducting searches at 12 places including Jaipur and Delhi NCR. During this sensitive documents have been recovered.

What did CBI say?

According to the news agency PTI, Vivek Raghuvanshi was also gathering information about the upcoming plans of the Indian Armed Forces. The CBI said that apart from the details of India’s strategic and diplomatic interactions with friendly countries, Raghuvanshi had also gathered information about confidential information related to national security.

Officials claimed that if this information came out, India’s bilateral relations with these countries could have deteriorated.
