Delhi Government Vs LG: Overturning the order of the Supreme Court, the central government brought an ordinance on Friday (May 19) regarding the transfer-posting of officers. Meanwhile, on Saturday (May 20), Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal attacked the central government and asked the opposition to unite.
CM Arvind Kejriwal said, “I will go among the people of Delhi and will organize a big rally here.” The way the public’s reaction is coming, it seems that this time BJP will not get a single seat from Delhi in the Lok Sabha elections. I want to appeal to the opposition parties that when this bill comes in the Rajya Sabha, they should not allow it to be passed. I will meet leaders of every party and seek their support.
In fact, the Central Government had issued an ordinance on Friday for the purpose of setting up the ‘National Capital Public Service Authority’ for the transfer of ‘Group-A’ officers of ‘Daniks’ cadre and for disciplinary action against them.
‘Challenge to the Supreme Court’
Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party, said that the ordinance is a dirty joke on the people and the country. It seems that the Central Government is giving a direct challenge to the Supreme Court that whatever order you give, we will bring an ordinance and overturn it. It is a challenge that if you choose any other party other than BJP, we will not allow it to work.
Kejriwal said that the Centre’s ordinance on services is unconstitutional and against democracy. We will approach the Supreme Court regarding this. The ordinance is a direct contempt of court, they want to obstruct the work of our government.
What was the order of the Supreme Court?
Explain that the Supreme Court had handed over the control of all other services except police, law and order and land to the Delhi government. The court had said that Kejriwal government has the right to transfer and posting of Delhi officials.
