- The dispute started as a small civic issue and was resolved peacefully.
This is the first significant incident of public withdrawal of inflammatory statements in Telangana. In fact, Manoj Kumar, Secretary of the Managing Committee of Janapriya Lake Front Society in Kapra on the outskirts of Hyderabad, apologized unconditionally to a Muslim boy last Tuesday (June 16, 2026).
He had called the boy a Pakistani during a heated debate on a civic issue. This apology was made when community members intervened and the local police started efforts for reconciliation. This incident is a rare example of prompt accountability and peaceful resolution of disputes in residential areas.
What was the reason behind the dispute?
According to the information, Sheikh Naseema, a resident of Kodangal, lives in Janapriya Lake Front Apartment in Kapra. Due to ill health, his relative’s son Nadeem came to Hyderabad to take care of him. Meanwhile, Naseema’s younger son’s friend Prachi also started staying in their house due to necessary reasons. The neighbors objected to Prachi keeping her pet cats in the balcony, after which the fight escalated.
A disturbing incident at Janapriya LakeView Apartments under Malkajgiri police limits. Muslim boy threatened, called ‘Pakistani’ in Malkajgiri. The accused continued threatening the boy even in the presence of police personnel.

What did the society secretary say after the controversy?
Expressing deep regret over this controversial incident, the Society Secretary publicly apologized. He said that his words were completely unintentional and came out of sudden anger. Manoj said, ‘I apologize to all those who have been hurt by my words. I also sincerely apologize to that young boy. My words were not spoken intentionally.
He also emphasized his long-standing respect for the Muslim community, stating that most of his tenants were from the same community and that it was never his intention to disrespect them or their religious beliefs.
What did the local police inspector say regarding the matter?
Delving deeper into the matter, local reports revealed that the debate initially started over a small civic issue like parking and maintenance inside the residential complex, which soon turned into a heated debate. To prevent law and order from deteriorating, local authorities were immediately informed about the tense situation. Kapra Police Inspector Prabhakar Reddy confirmed that both the parties were called to the local police station for formal counselling.
Inspector Reddy said, ‘We received a complaint about inflammatory statements and we immediately called the secretary. After thorough counselling, he realized his mistake and tendered an unconditional apology in writing. We have resolved the matter peacefully without registering any formal criminal case.
This incident sets a very important precedent in the southern state, where inflammatory statements often lead to protracted legal battles rather than quick settlements. The prompt intervention of the local police officials and the subsequent public apology has been greatly appreciated by the residents, which has restored communal harmony in the housing society.
The young man and his family have accepted the formal apology. Community leaders believe that this approach of open dialogue and strict accountability should serve as a model for resolving similar disputes, to ensure that small disputes in residential areas do not escalate into major communal tensions in the future.
