A Parliamentary Standing Committee has called representatives of the Law Commission and the Law Ministry on July 3 on the recent notice issued by the Law Commission to seek views of various stakeholders on the issue of Uniform Civil Code (UCC). Till Tuesday evening, the Law Commission had received around 8.5 lakh responses to its public notice.

2. BJP MP Sushil Modi, head of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Uniform Civil Code, said that the Law Commission will answer the questions of MPs on the consultation paper on UCC on July 3. Personal law comes under the jurisdiction of the Law and Justice Committee. The committee will discuss the consultation paper of the Law Commission and people from all the parties will be present during this discussion. This meeting has nothing to do with politics in any way. The discussion paper will be discussed in the committee.
