DRDO Scientist: DRDO scientist Dr. Pradeep Kurulkar’s difficulty has increased in the matter of sharing intelligence information to Pakistan. The special court in Pune on Tuesday (May 9) extended Kurulkar’s police custody till May 15. Scientist Kurulkar was arrested by Maharashtra ATS last week from Pune.
During the arrest of Pune-based DRDO director Kurulkar, the ATS had told that he was honey-trapped by a person from Pakistan Intelligence Operating (PIO). After this, after taking sensitive information from him, he started giving it to Pakistan. For this, Kurulkar was using social media.
What did ATS say?
Seeking extension of the accused’s custody, the ATS told the court that the forensic report of the seized equipment has been received from the scientist and he needs to be questioned for further investigation in the matter. On the other hand, defense counsel Hrishikesh Ganu, opposing the plea seeking extension of custody, said that all the electronic devices have been seized and his client (Kurulkar) is cooperating with the authorities.
Please tell that he was presented before the court on Thursday (May 4) to seek remand till Tuesday (May 9). Even before it was over, while presenting him again in the court on Tuesday, the ATS demanded to increase the remand custody.
What is the matter?
DRDO’s Vigilance Department initially investigated the matter of giving sensitive information to Pakistan. The Vigilance Department prepared its report and gave it to the Maharashtra ATS. After this ATS arrested Kurulkar.
A case has been registered against Kurulkar under the Official Secrets Act at the Kalachowki unit of ATS in Mumbai. Further investigation is going on in this matter. The matter will be clear only after a complete investigation that who all are involved in this? ATS officials told that he (Kurulkar) is going to retire in November this year.
