Diwali is upon us, but not the cold! Cold and burning sensation will increase in North India including Delhi-NCR from this date.

IMD Weather Update: Every year before Diwali, people take out warm clothes, but this time such a situation has not arisen. However, mild cold is being felt in the morning in many states including North India. Cyclone Dana, which hit Odisha and West Bengal, reversed the cold conditions. This cyclone stopped the cold winds coming from the mountains from reaching North India including Delhi, due to which the temperature in these areas increased. Talking about Delhi, the temperature here remained at 20 degrees Celsius throughout the day and the maximum temperature remained around 36 degrees.

Severe cold may occur from this date

According to the Meteorological Department, after Diwali, pink cold will be felt in the morning and evening for a week. According to the Meteorological Department, the phase of rapid increase in cold may begin around November 15. IMD says that due to La Nina this year there are chances of extreme cold in India. Due to La Nina, the ocean temperature cools down, which affects the global climate. Its effect is more in northern states like Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. According to the World Meteorological Organization, there is a possibility that the intensity of La Nina may increase by 60 percent from October 2024 to February 2025.

Effect of La Nina will be visible in November

The Meteorological Department was earlier predicting that there might be cold in the last week of October this year, but it did not happen. However, the Indian Meteorological Department is still saying that this winter the temperatures are likely to be below normal. American agency NOAA has predicted that the probability of La Nina forming at the end of November is 60 percent. La-Nina or El-Nino effect is caused by increase or decrease in temperature at two ends of the ocean. La Nina brings good rains in India and the opposite happens in El Nino.

Rain alert in Bihar-UP

Due to cyclone Dana, the weather has changed in Bihar even before Diwali. Due to this cyclone which hit West Bengal and Odisha, the rainy season is intense in the districts of Bihar. Due to cyclone Dana, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy for 12 to 24 hours every day till October 30. Light rain or drizzle may also occur at some places.

Talking about the weather of Uttar Pradesh, heat is being felt during the day and slight cold at night. Rain alert has been issued in Eastern UP during the next 24 hours.
