‘Don’t be complacent with victory’, Shashi Tharoor’s advice to Congress on elections, said- Voters can change mood

Meanwhile, senior Congress leader and MP Shashi Tharoor has advised the leaders of his own party not to be too happy.

Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor on Saturday (June 17) said that the Congress party should not be complacent ahead of the Lok Sabha elections after defeating the BJP in Karnataka as there is a difference between state and national elections and voter mood can change. Citing the dismal performance of the Congress in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he said that a few months before this, the Congress had won big in the assembly elections of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.

It is important that the Congress should not be complacent, in 2018 we (Congress) not only became the single largest party in Karnataka but also won in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, the Congress leader told news agency PTI. Tharoor says that the Congress cannot assume that what worked in the state elections will work in the national elections as well.

They may be committed to the party’s ideology and agenda, but individuals (party leaders) may feel that they have to rely on others to take the party’s agenda forward.” are better.”
