West Bengal Law Minister: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued summons to West Bengal Law Minister Malay Ghatak on Friday (June 23). A senior official said that Minister Malay Ghatak has been asked to appear before ED officials in Delhi on June 28 in connection with the probe into the coal theft case in the state.
According to news agency PTI, the ED official said that Malay Ghatak, MLA from Asansol North, was earlier summoned by the ED on June 19. However, Malay did not appear before the ED officials at the Delhi office. Through his lawyer, he had expressed his inability to appear as he was busy in the Panchayat elections to be held in the state.
ED asked to appear in person
The Law Minister has been asked to appear personally at the central office of the central probe agency on June 29. The ED officer said that we are trying to find out what was the role of the Malay component in the scam. We have evidence of his involvement in this.
Strict action can be taken this time
However, this time it is believed that if the Malay constituents do not appear before the ED this time, strict action may be taken against them. At the same time, earlier the High Court had directed the ED to summon the Malay component within 15 days. After that ED had summoned Malay Ghatak on June 19, but he did not appear.
