IAF chief visits Tughlakabad Air Force Station, gets update on indigenous weapon project

Chief of the Air Staff Visit: Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhary visited Tughlakabad Air Force Station on Friday (May 19) and reviewed the preparedness and development projects of Guided Weapon System. Karvebi Tughlakabad of the capital Delhi is a major base repair depot of the Indian Air Force. This base especially plays a role in maintaining the Guided Weapon System systems of the Air Force and keeping them ready at all times.

According to the Air Force Headquarters, during his visit, the Air Force Chief also took updates on indigenization projects of weapon systems from top officials, and reviewed the functioning. This includes surface-to-air missile SAMAR with assured counterattack, missile supply vehicle, poly urethane based combat cabin, RexU cradle for pilot rescue, damage barrier for FOD damage to aircraft, etc.

New station historical cell reviewed

Air Chief Marshal Chowdhary also met several personnel of the depot and its lodger units. He also visited several production wings, sites and the newly created Station Historical Cell, looking at the development of 7 BRD and its contribution. During the visit, he appreciated the role played by the Depot in providing repair and overhaul facilities to a plethora of Guided Weapon Systems and associated radar systems across the Indian Air Force.

Air Chief Marshal Chowdhary not only encouraged the airmen in their conversation but also emphasized on the fact that the goal of self-reliance can be achieved only through everyone’s efforts. He appreciated the participation and enthusiasm of all personnel in the indigenization efforts towards ensuring support to the operational units and achieving ‘self-reliance’ or ‘self-reliance’.
