Nitin Gadkari On Road Development: Central Minister of Road, Transport and Highways Addressing a press conference on Tuesday (June 27), Nitin Gadkari said, “India’s road network has grown by 59 percent in the last 9 years to become the second largest in the world after the US. India’s road network has reached 1,45,240 km”
Addressing a conference on ‘Achievements of 9 years of the government’ in New Delhi, Nitin Gadkari said that the distance covered in 2013-14 was 91,287 km. In the last 9 years, there has been development in all sectors, which has changed the picture of the country. At the same time, the revenue coming from toll increased from Rs 4,770 crore in 2013-14 to Rs 4,1342 crore in FY 2023.
What did the minister say about toll revenue
Gadkari said, “The target is to increase the toll revenue to Rs 1,30,000 crore by 2020. The use of FASTag has helped reduce the waiting time at toll plazas to 47 seconds. Now to reduce it to less than 30 seconds Measures have been taken. 670 roadside amenities are being developed to make the National Highway a pleasant experience.”
Appeal to investors to invest in NHAI
Along with this, he told that, a bond issue was launched under the INVIT model of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and it received tremendous response. NHAI has almost completed the construction of India’s longest Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.
He said that within the first day of its availability on the Mumbai Stock Exchange, the bond was oversubscribed seven times. Gadkari also appealed to the investors to consider investing in NHAI INVIT.
