Karnataka Police Chief Praveen Sood will be the next CBI Director

CBI Director: Praveen Sood, the current Director General of Police (DGP) of Karnataka, has been appointed as the next Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Sood will take charge on May 25 after the completion of the tenure of current CBI chief Subodh Kumar Jaiswal. DGP Sood is a 1986 batch IPS officer.

DGP Praveen Sood came into limelight in March when Karnataka Congress chief DK Shivakumar accused him of providing protection to the BJP government in the state. At that time Congress state president Shivakumar demanded the arrest of the state’s Director General of Police, claiming that he was registering cases against Congress leaders.
