Mamta Banerjee faction’s big statement on Pakistan’s threat to India, said- ‘Whenever we show enmity…’

In an effort to bring the relations between India and Pakistan back on track, more than 100 eminent personalities of both the countries met the Prime Minister. Narendra Modi And sent a joint letter to Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. A total of 117 people have digitally signed this letter, written on the initiative of an organization called Center for Peace and Progress.

In this letter, an appeal has been made to reduce the increasing tension between the two countries, restart talks, appoint High Commissioners in Delhi and Islamabad, normalize visa services and reopen the closed airspace. Also included are demands for promoting religious-cultural visits, reestablishing dialogue on the Jammu and Kashmir issue and taking forward the comprehensive dialogue process of 2004-2007.

Appeal of 117 celebrities

From the Indian side, 61 people including Farooq Abdullah, Mirwaiz Omar Farooq, Mehbooba Mufti, Manoj Jha and Humayun Kabir have signed this letter. From Pakistan side, 56 personalities including former Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri, former diplomat Ashraf Jahangir Qazi, National Assembly member Isfanyar Bhandara and nuclear scientist Pervez Hoodbhoy have expressed support.

TMC’s answer

Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Saugata Roy has given a sharp reaction to the statement given by Pakistan on an international platform regarding the Indus Water Treaty. Speaking to the media in Delhi, Roy said that Pakistan is exaggerating its strength. He reminded that Indus River enters Pakistan only through India, hence whenever hostile attitude is seen from Pakistan’s side, India will not shy away from taking strict action on the issue of Indus waters. He clearly said that Pakistan’s statements will not have any impact on India’s policy.

This statement of the MP from Mamata Banerjee’s party TMC has come at a time when on one hand people in favor of peace are taking initiative to improve relations between the two countries, while on the other hand, Indian political parties are adopting a tough stance on sensitive issues like Indus Water Treaty. This development shows that efforts to improve India-Pakistan relations and vigilance regarding security and water sharing are going on simultaneously.
