Coromandel Train Accident: The number of people who lost their lives in the train accident that took place on Friday (June 2) in Balasore, Odisha has been updated once again. Odisha Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena informed on Sunday (June 4) that the number of people who lost their lives in the accident is not 288, but 275.
The State Chief Secretary said that the casualty figure was checked by the DM and it was found that some bodies were counted twice. Therefore, the number of people who lost their lives has been revised to 275. The Chief Secretary said that out of 275 bodies, 88 have been identified.

More than 700 injured discharged from hospital after treatment
The Chief Secretary said that the State Forensic Science Laboratory is also conducting DNA test of all the bodies kept in the mortuary. He said that out of 1,175 people injured in the accident, 793 have been discharged from the hospital after treatment.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav told the reason for the accident
Earlier on Sunday itself, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav explained the reason for the accident and expressed hope of restoration of service in the accident area by Wednesday. The Railway Minister said that the cause of the accident is related to the ‘point machine’ and ‘electronic interlocking’ system required for railway signals. He said that the change in ‘Electronic Interlocking’ has been identified, due to which the accident happened.
Let us tell you that at around 7 pm on Friday evening, near Bahanga Bazar railway station in Balasore, the Coromandel Express went on the loop line instead of the main line, due to which it collided with a goods train standing there. At the same time, the Bangalore-Howrah Superfast Express also came under the grip of this accident. More than one thousand people have been injured due to this accident.
