Wrestlers Protest Live: Wrestlers have dismissed reports of backing down from the ongoing agitation against the outgoing President of Wrestling Federation of India, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Wrestlers Sakshi Malik and Satyavrat Kadayan said in Facebook Live on Monday (June 5) that our fight is against Brij Bhushan, not the government. This is what we have been saying since the beginning.
Olympic medalist wrestler Sakshi Malik said that he will keep fighting until justice is served. I will tell the supporters to maintain such support, do not pay attention to fake news. Our movement continues. A little hold has been done because we are planning. We have been mentally disturbed the whole day today regarding the fake news that was going on. The whole day was spent in cleaning.
“It’s the government’s job”
Sakshi Malik’s husband and wrestler Satyavrat Kadayan said that our fight is against Brij Bhushan. Against the President of the Wrestling Federation. There is a fight to clean our wrestling. The job is of the government and our fight is not with the government. We thought that even government work should not stop, so why it was shown so negative, we do not know.
“None has turned back and will not turn back”
Earlier in the day on Monday, news agency ANI had told about wrestler Sakshi Malik that she has rejoined her job in Indian Railways. After this news came to the fore, it was claimed that Sakshi Malik had distanced herself from the protest by the wrestlers. After this Sakshi had tweeted that this news is absolutely wrong. In the fight for justice, none of us has backed down and will not.
Along with Sakshi, wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat had also rejected the reports of withdrawing from the movement and said that the fight will continue till justice is served. The news of withdrawing the movement is just a rumour. These news are being spread to harm us. Wrestlers are demanding the arrest of Brij Bhushan Singh on charges of sexual harassment. The wrestlers returned to their railway jobs on Monday.
