According to a Hindustan Times report, the committee was told by the Railway Board that in 2010-11, where there were 141 train accidents, it has come down to just 48 in 2022-23. During this, the Railway Board had explained to the parliamentary committee that how the Railways has made arrangements to prevent accidents, but the horrific accident that happened exactly 8 days after this has raised many questions.
Railway Board had given assurance of security

The ongoing CBI investigation of the accident
The government has handed over the investigation of the Odisha train accident to the CBI. In fact, in the preliminary investigation, there have been indications that there may be some kind of conspiracy behind this accident, although the final conclusion in this regard can be given even after the investigation report comes out. Railways have found evidence in the preliminary investigation that the interlocking system of the tracks may have been deliberately tampered with.
