Sanjay Raut files defamation case against BJP leader Kirit Somaiya, this is the matter

Sanjay Raut Defamation Case: Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Monday (June 12) filed a defamation case in a Maharashtra court against BJP leader Kirit Somaiya for his allegedly derogatory tweet. In a complaint filed through advocate Sudeep Singh before a magistrate’s court in Mulund, the Rajya Sabha member urged the court to take cognizance of an offense punishable under Section 500 of the Indian Penal Code (punishment for defamation) against Somaiya. .

The complaint states that from the year 2022, I noticed that the accused made some tweets on his Twitter account with defamatory statements against me, which are completely unwarranted statements. Raut said that he is surprised by these statements of the BJP leader. It is expected that the court will hear the matter in the coming days. Earlier in the month of February, Sanjay Raut had demanded an apology by sending a legal notice to Kirit Somaiya regarding this matter.

What did Sanjay Raut say?

Kirit Somaiya had made some tweets when Sanjay Raut was in jail in a case registered by ED. In the legal notice, Somaiya was asked to tender an unconditional public apology for making false and baseless allegations. Raut also warned that if Somaiya did not do so, he would file a defamation case against him.

Referring to Somaiya’s five tweets, Sanjay Raut’s lawyer had said that you have made many false and baseless allegations against my client. Every allegation on your Twitter account is completely false, fabricated and without any evidence. These tweets were derogatory and made to tarnish Raut’s credibility and reputation.

Somaiya was targeted

Regarding this matter, Sanjay Raut had tweeted that BJP’s Kirit Somaiya alias Popatlal is making false allegations against me and throwing mud at Shiv Sena leaders. I have started legal action and sent legal notice to Mr. Popatlal, truth will prevail soon. Sanjay Raut was arrested by the ED in the month of August last year in the Patra Chawl land scam case. However, Raut claims that he is innocent and is being framed.

Raut was granted bail by a special PMLA court in Mumbai on November 9. Actually, Medha Somaiya, wife of Kirit Somaiya, has filed a defamation case against Sanjay Raut. Raut has termed the allegations as false. In this defamation case, a warrant was issued against Sanjay Raut. After which the dispute between Kirit Somaiya and Raut had increased.
