Wrestlers Protest News: Delhi Police on Sunday (May 28) evacuated the protest site of wrestlers protesting against WFI Chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. All this happened when Prime Minister Narendra Modi Was in the inauguration program of the new parliament.
The wrestlers had announced to hold Mahila Mahapanchayat in front of the new Parliament on Sunday. When the wrestlers tried to take out a march to Parliament, the Delhi Police allegedly misbehaved with them. After some time the wrestlers were taken into custody and after that Section 144 was imposed at Jantar Mantar. However, the wrestlers were released by late evening. Wrestlers tried to reach the new parliament, barricades
In the Khap Panchayat held in Haryana, on May 28, on the day of the inauguration ceremony of the new Parliament, Mahila Mahapanchayat was announced in front of the building. The Delhi Police did not allow this, but on Sunday the wrestlers took out a march to the Parliament to hold a Mahapanchayat. During this, the wrestlers tried to jump the barricades, which the Delhi Police tried to stop.
During this, along with Vinesh Phogat, her sister Sangeeta Phogat and Sakshi Malik tried to break through the security cordon and move forward. Meanwhile, there was a scuffle and an alleged scuffle between the wrestlers and the protesters. After which the police took 109 protesters including wrestlers into custody. All of them were taken to different places. After this, the police removed the tents etc. of the wrestlers from Jantar Mantar and vacated the place.
Wrestlers made serious allegations against the police
Several wrestlers, including Vinesh Phogat, Sangeeta Phogat, Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia, made serious allegations against the Delhi Police of scuffles, indecency and even tearing of clothes. The wrestlers said that they were going towards the new parliament peacefully. The police tried to forcibly stop them and put up barricades.

Will the strike end?
Delhi Police vacated the protest site by invoking section 144 at the picket site of Jantar Mantar. Tents, mattresses, coolers, fans, etc. installed at the demonstration site of the wrestlers were removed. The police released the women wrestlers from custody late on Sunday evening. At the same time, Bajrang Punia was also released till late night.
After the implementation of Section 144 at Jantar Mantar, no gathering can be done. Regarding this, all the wrestlers including Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik, Bajrang Punia say that our strike against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh is not over yet. Further outline will be prepared after talks.
Wrestlers accused of trying to incite riots in FIR
Delhi Police has registered an FIR against the wrestlers and protesters regarding this whole incident. The police claimed that the wrestlers also manhandled the women policemen. The wrestlers in the FIR have been booked under sections 147 (rioting), 149 (unlawful assembly), 186 (obstructing public servant in duty), 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to public servant) and 353 The protesters have been booked under Section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act (criminal force to deter public servant from duty).
Many protesters of farmer’s organization are also in custody
In the Khap Panchayat held in Haryana, it was decided that farmers’ organizations and Khap Panchayats will support the Mahila Mahapanchayat to be held in front of the new Parliament on May 28. Because of this, many farmer organizations started gathering on the borders of Delhi on Sunday. However, due to the vigilance of the Delhi Police, no one could enter the state.
Modi government on the target of opposition
NCP Chief Sharad Pawar tweeted on this matter and wrote that it is painful to see how the Delhi Police assaulted and detained our leading women wrestlers demanding justice through democratic means. I strongly condemn the callous behavior of the Delhi Police towards our athletes, who are the pride of our country. This act of cruelty has put our democratic values and ethos to shame today.
All the leaders of the opposition including Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal, Mamta Banerjee, Hemant Soren targeted the Modi government. Rahul Gandhi tweeted the video of the wrestlers being taken into custody and wrote that the coronation is complete – the ‘arrogant king’ is crushing the voice of the public on the streets.
