Shahrukh changed his name to befriend a girl, started giving dangerous threats for refusing, arrested

New Delhi: A case of trapping a Hindu girl by misidentifying her identity has come to light from Delhi’s Karawal Nagar area. After the complaint of the victim girl, the police registered a case of rape against the accused and arrested him.

Police claim that the victim has alleged in her complaint that the boy had sent her a friend request through Instagram. In this the boy had written his name Param Sharma. When the girl accepted his request and talked to him, then the boy told his name as Golu.

Police further told that in January 2023, the girl came to know that the boy’s name is Shahrukh. He is not a Hindu but a Muslim. After this the girl stopped talking to him, but the boy was constantly pressurizing and threatening the victim. After this the girl told the whole story to the police and the police registered an FIR and arrested the accused.

What did the victim say?
The victim told that she had received an Instagram friend request in October 2020. There was a profile in the name of Param Sharma. I accepted the friend request and when I started talking to him, he told his name as Golu.

The girl further said that when my mother fell ill in January 2023, I stopped meeting her. He got very angry because of this and one day he said angrily on the phone that my real name is Shahrukh Khan. After this I stopped talking to the boy, but then he started threatening to kill me and my family. Threatening, he said that he will make the video viral. The victim said that the boy made a fake profile in my name.

What did the police say?
Additional DCP Sandhya Swamy said that on the complaint of the victim, we have arrested the accused by registering an FIR under appropriate sections. The boy is 22 years old and works in the tailoring unit. The boy’s mobile phone has been seized. It will be sent for FSL test.
