Sonam Wangchuk stopped at Singhu border with 150 pedestrians: Claim- I was detained

Sonam Wangchuk Latest News: Activist Sonam Wangchuk, who was coming to Delhi from Ladakh, has been stopped near the Singhu border. Late night on Monday (September 30, 2024), he told about this on social media platform X and claimed that Delhi Police has taken him into custody along with 150 pedestrians. However, at present it is not clear where he has been kept.

Sonam Wangchuk, an engineer-turned-education reformer on Twitter, shared a two-minute-26-second video and informed, “I am being detained along with 150 pedestrians on the Delhi border. This work is being done by 100 police forces. “While some people say that 1,000 policemen have been deployed there for us.”

Actually, Sonam Wangchuk has been protesting for a long time regarding various demands including the issue related to the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution of the Union Territory (UT). The march led by Sonam Wangchuk, a well-known climate activist, was scheduled to reach the national capital on Monday but was stopped midway. The march called by Leh Apex Body (LAB) was to reach Delhi under the leadership of Sonam Wangchuk on September 1.

Members of Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) were also in this march. The groups had announced that they will march to Rajghat in Delhi on Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, 2024, while they plan a public meeting at Jantar Mantar on October 3. Both Ladakh groups jointly support four years of statehood for Ladakh, inclusion of the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution, early recruitment process with Public Service Commission for Ladakh and separate Lok Sabha seat for Kargil districts along with Leh.
