Tax exemption for ‘The Kerala Story’ in Delhi, special screening should be held for girls: BJP

Delhi BJP Demands The Kerala Story Tax Free: Delhi’s BJP unit on Sunday (May 7) wrote to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, demanding a ‘tax exemption’ for the film ‘The Kerala Story’. Simultaneously, the BJP demanded that the Delhi government organize a special screening of the film for girls in the age group of 15-16 in the city.

According to news agency PTI, in a letter to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, BJP’s Delhi unit spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said that the film ‘Love Jihad’ is based on serious issues like religious conversion and pushing innocent girls towards terrorism. He said that the Chief Minister of Delhi should promote it (the film) himself after watching it and should exempt entertainment tax on it.

What did the BJP leader say?

BJP leader Praveen Shankar Kapoor said that the film ‘The Kerala Story’ has been given an ‘A’ certificate to be watched only by adults, whereas nowadays the danger of love jihad is highest for 15-16 year old girls. That’s why the Chief Minister should contact the Film Censor Board and get its ‘U/A’ certificate for Delhi so that more and more girls of the sensitive category can be made aware by showing this film.

He said that apart from the girl students of class 11th and 12th, girls who are graduating also easily fall prey to love jihad and they too should be shown the film through a special show.

The issue of film was also heard in Karnataka elections

The film starring Adah Sharma revolves around a group of women in Kerala who are forced to convert and join ISIS. There has been a lot of debate in the political world regarding the film ‘The Kerala Story’. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the Congress have criticized the film, while the issue of the film figured in the election campaign of Karnataka.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised the film for exposing terror conspiracies and mentioned it (the film) to target the Congress during his rally in Karnataka. Let us tell you that on Saturday (May 6), Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had announced to make the film ‘The Kerala Story’ tax free in the state.
