A youth riding a bike died after falling into a pit dug for construction work by Delhi Jal Board in Janakpuri area of Delhi. Politics is heated in the country regarding this. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi has called it murder. Delhi Police has registered an FIR against the contractor and concerned officials of Delhi Jal Board under Section 105 BNS (culpable homicide not amounting to murder).
Congress MP Rahul Gandhi said, ‘The epidemic of greed and carelessness spread in India has once again taken the life of a youth. A son, a dream, the entire world of the parents, everything was destroyed in one stroke. This is not an accident, it is murder and the murderer is the government running away from accountability. The real killer is not the road but the irresponsible government. Because here there is neither resignation, nor punishment, nor is anyone’s conscience awakened.

After the death of youth Kamal after falling into a pit in Janakpuri, Delhi Government’s Urban Development Minister Ashish Sood will conduct a joint inspection on the spot on Saturday (7 February 2026) at 10 am. Senior officials of PWD, Delhi Jal Board, Traffic Police, Revenue Department and MCD will be present in this inspection.
The family of the deceased has alleged negligence at the level of Delhi Jal Board and has also expressed suspicion of conspiracy in Kamal’s death. Police said that information regarding the incident was received at around seven in the morning after which policemen reached the spot. He told that the dead body and the motorcycle were found inside the pit. Police said that the deceased has been identified as Kamal, a resident of Kailashpuri, who worked in the call center of a private bank.
