According to Kpler data, India’s Russian crude oil imports have reached a record high of 2.3 million barrels per day so far in the month of May, as the Russian crude oil cargoes pre-loaded under the waiver given by the US reached India very quickly. However, after the end of this deadline on May 16, if new ships loaded with crude oil from Russia do not leave for India, then the average import figure for the entire month may come down to 19 lakh barrels per day.

At the same time, India is the third largest crude oil importer in the world.
