Maharashtra Politics: Shiv Sena (UBT) has taken an aggressive stand on the issue of disqualification of rebel MLAs in Maharashtra. The Speaker has been given a time limit of 15 days to take action on the controversial issue. Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena leader Anul Parab has said that he expects the Speaker to take action within 15 days.
According to India Today, the Uddhav faction argues that Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar himself is a lawyer and understands the procedures very well. Everything related to this matter is also on record. Uddhav Thackeray became aggressive and said that if the Speaker of the BJP Assembly does not take action within the stipulated time, then he also has the option of knocking on the door of the Supreme Court.
What does Rahul Narvekar have to say?
At the same time, on this matter, Rahul Narvekar says that first of all it has to be decided which faction is the real Shiv Sena as a political party. After this, the matter of disqualification of MLAs will be settled. At present Rahul Narvekar is in London. He said, “I respect the order of the Supreme Court. I will complete the responsibility assigned by the apex court to the assembly speaker within a reasonable time. Time will be given to all the petitioners to make statements and present their case.”
Narvekar also claimed that the Supreme Court has upheld his stand to disqualify the MLAs. The court said that it would be the prerogative of the Speaker to decide on the disqualification petition filed against 16 MLAs, including Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. He said, “I have been saying continuously that it is for the Speaker to decide (on this matter).” Narvekar said, the Supreme Court has clarified what the whip of a political party counts against its legislative wing. So it has to be decided first which faction represents the Shiv Sena political party.
