We have never seen such a lying Election Commission: Mamata Banerjee
After meeting CEC Gyanesh Kumar, CM Mamata Banerjee said, ‘I am very sad. I have been involved in politics in Delhi for a very long time. I have been a minister 4 times and in Parliament 7 times. I have never seen an election commissioner who is so arrogant, who is such a liar.
The Bengal CM said, ‘I told him (Chief Election Commissioner) that I respect your chair because no chair is permanent for anyone. One day you will have to go. Why is Bengal being targeted? Elections are a festival in a democracy, but you removed the names of 58 lakh people and did not give them a chance to defend themselves.

Names of 58 lakh people were removed: CM Mamata
He said, ‘If you had to do SIR, you should have left the election-bound states and done it with proper planning, but you did not do so. You have BJP government in Assam. You did not do SIR in Assam, but did it in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu. What did you do to us? You removed the names of 58 lakh people. There is too much confusion and wrong mapping here.
He said, ‘If we had to do SIR in 2022 and we were asked to bring our father’s birth certificate, it would not have been possible. Earlier, children were born at homes, not in hospitals… Ask your Prime Minister if he has the institutional delivery certificates of his parents.
