Wrestler Protest News: Wrestlers sitting on dharna at Jantar Mantar for the last 22 days have written an open letter to women MPs of BJP including Union Minister Smriti Irani. Through this letter, the wrestlers have sought support from women MPs, so that action can be taken against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
The wrestlers said that these women MPs, who raised the slogan of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, should also join our sorrow and support us. Not only this, on May 16, a demand has also been made to hold a one-day Satyagraha at the district headquarters across the country.
It’s been 22 days sitting on dharna- Vinesh
Addressing the press at Jantar Mantar, Vinesh Phogat said that it has been 22 days since we sat here on dharna, but till now no one from BJP has come to us. No woman MP has come. Those who give slogans of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, they have not joined us in this sorrow. Tomorrow i.e. on Monday, we will write an open letter to the women MPs of BJP seeking their help. Our wrestlers will deliver the letter to their homes.
Support us in our fight – Sakshi Malik
Sakshi Malik said that we seek support from all the people of the society. Join us in our fight. The allegations that we are making, they are saying right. That’s why all of you came in our support. Every day some people should come here at Jantar Mantar in our support. Apart from this, Vinesh Phogat has appealed that on Tuesday, everyone should do Satyagraha for one day on May 16 in our support. Go to your respective district headquarters and give memorandum.
What was written in the letter…
The wrestlers wrote in their letter, “We women wrestlers of India have been sexually harassed by the President of the Wrestling Federation of India. During his long tenure as the President of the Federation, he sexually assaulted the wrestlers several times. Tried to raise my voice but his power ruined the future of wrestlers, leave alone justice.”
the water had gone up the nose
The letter further read, “Now that the water has gone above the nose, we are left with no option but to fight for the dignity of women wrestlers. We have put our lives and sports aside and fight for our dignity. Have decided to fight. We have been fighting for justice at Jantar Mantar for the last 20 days. As per our observation their power has not only broken the backbone of the administration but also made our government deaf and blind.”
Mahla wrestlers said in the letter that as women members of the ruling party’s parliament, we have high hopes from you and we request you to help us. Save our voice and our dignity for justice. To guide us, you must spare some time to reach Jantar Mantar.
