New Delhi Police Commissioner IPS Anurag Kumar: The Central Government has appointed the new Police Commissioner of Delhi Police. Senior IPS officer of 1994 batch AGMUT cadre, Anurag Kumar will now command the national capital police. Till now he was posted as Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau. According to the order issued by the Home Ministry, Anurag Kumar will assume responsibility as Delhi Police Commissioner from the date of assuming charge, replacing Satish Golcha, who has been directed to report to the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi for new posting.

Anurag Kumar is a 1994 batch IPS officer of AGMUT cadre, he has studied Bachelor of Engineering and has been working in the Indian Police Service for more than 3 decades. According to reports, he has more than 32 years of experience in administrative police and intelligence services. He has also been promoted twice in the last few years.

Had handled important responsibilities in IB

Before taking command of Delhi Police, Anurag Kumar was working as Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau. Before this, he had also held many important responsibilities in Delhi Police. He served as Deputy Commissioner of Police in several districts of the capital and handled many sensitive security and intelligence matters. He is considered to have long experience in strategic and high level security matters.

How much salary does Delhi Police Commissioner get?

The post of Delhi Police Commissioner is one of the most senior posts in the police service. This post comes under Level 17, at this level the officer gets a salary of Rs 2.25 lakh per month. Apart from this, facilities like official residence, government vehicles, security, staff, medical facilities and other allowances are also provided as per government rules.
