Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has released the recruitment notification for the posts of Graduate Apprentice Trainee (Engineering) for the year 2026-27. Under this recruitment drive, eligible candidates will be selected for 358 posts across the country. The special thing is that for selection on these posts, candidates will not have to go through any written examination. The entire selection process will be based on merit.

HPCL is a public sector company working under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. The company has invited applications to provide one year apprentice training to engineering graduates in the marketing division. The online application process will start from 15th July 2026 and interested candidates will be able to apply till 31st July 2026. At the same time, the age limit will also be calculated considering 31 July 2026 as the base.

vacancy details

If we look at state-wise vacancies, Maharashtra has the maximum number of 64 posts. After this, there will be recruitment for 37 posts in Uttar Pradesh, 32 in Gujarat, 20 in Tamil Nadu, 19 in Telangana, 18 in Delhi, 17 in Rajasthan and 16 in Punjab. Apart from this, posts have also been earmarked in many states and union territories including Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, Karnataka, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Assam, Goa, Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Chandigarh, Nagaland, Chhattisgarh and Dadra and Nagar Haveli-Daman and Diu.

Who can apply

Candidates from only four engineering branches can apply for this recruitment. These include Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Instrumentation Engineering. To apply, it is mandatory for the candidate to have a bachelor’s degree in the relevant branch from a recognized institute.

Talking about educational qualification, for general and OBC (non-creamy layer) category candidates, it is necessary to have at least 60 percent marks in engineering. Whereas a minimum of 50 percent marks has been fixed for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Disabled (PwBD) candidates. Apart from this, the age of the candidate should be between 18 to 25 years.

The biggest feature of this recruitment is that no written examination or interview will be conducted in it. First of all, the applications of the candidates will be examined on the basis of marks obtained in their engineering degree. After this, candidates will be called for document verification in the ratio of 1:5 against the available vacancies. The final merit list will be released after completion of verification of documents.

The finally selected candidates will have to accept the Tripartite Apprentice Agreement on the National Apprentice Training Scheme (NATS) portal. After this, training will be started after the completion of the process of medical fitness certificate and police verification.

You will get this much stipend

During the training, the selected candidates will get a total stipend of Rs 25,000 every month. In this, Rs 20,500 will be given by HPCL, while Rs 4,500 will be sent by the Government of India to the bank account of the candidates through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
