Kids Care Tips: Every parent wants their child to grow up healthy and safe. We often think that the things which are easily available in the market are completely safe for children, but according to the opinion of experts, some normal things that we use on children every day can be harmful for their health.
Oncologists say that children’s skin and body are much more sensitive than adults. Therefore, some common household products, which we consider safe, can be dangerous for children. Oncologist has recently shared a list of some products which should never be used on children. So let us know which products should not be used on children.
1. Talcum Powder – Use of talcum powder is very common to keep children’s skin very soft and rash free. But according to oncologists, talcum powder always carries the risk of being polluted. In such a situation, do not use talcum powder on the navel and genital area of children. Use dry cleaning or light moisturizing cream instead of powder.
2. Plastic Feeding Bottle – Nowadays, many plastic bottles in the market are said to be BPA, BPS and BPF free, but due to repeated sterilization, the plastic gradually breaks down and chemical substances or microplastics can get into milk or water. Therefore, if appropriate, use glass or stainless steel bottles. Avoid using plastic bottles again and again for a long time.
3. Chemical Sunscreen – It is important to protect children from the sun’s UV rays, but not every sunscreen is safe for children. Chemical sunscreens can be dangerous for children. In such a situation, use mineral based sunscreen for children, which contains zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. These sunscreens are considered safer for the sensitive skin of children.
4. Baths and shampoos with synthetic fragrances – Some baths and shampoos contain lots of phthalates and formaldehyde-releasing agents. These chemicals can be dangerous for children’s skin and hormonal system. Therefore, use fragrance-free shampoo and bath soap for children. Avoid products with synthetic fragrances, especially for children under 3 years of age.
5. Sikki Rubber Toys – Colorful bath toys are very common for children, but these toys are often made of phthalates. When they get wet in water, they can release chemicals, which are dangerous for children’s health. When choosing coin or rubber toys for children, look for safe and foam-free phthalate options.
6. Scented Baby Wipes – Baby wipes are very comfortable, but if they are scented then they can be dangerous for children’s skin. These often contain chemicals like fragrance, PEGs and ethylene oxide. In such a situation, for children with sensitive skin, use unscented or water-based wipes or clean using soft cloth and water.
