Through this layoff, the company is going to lay off 2.5 percent of its employees working in America. The company can complete the task of reducing the workforce by October 2024.

PwC America’s chairman Paul Griggs has issued a memo on the matter saying that this decision will affect a very small section of the company’s employees. This decision is always difficult, but necessary in the interest of the company. He also said that this is the first time since 2009 that the company has decided to layoff employees.

Why was the decision of layoff taken?

It is noteworthy that PwC has taken the decision of layoffs after 15 years due to low demand for its services. Giving information about the company’s restructuring plan in his memo, Paul Griggs has said that we are reorganizing the company’s teams while working on our future plans. For this reason we have decided to layoff people in many teams. It is noteworthy that this decision of the company is surprising in many ways because it has not done a single layoff in the last 15 years unlike its rival companies Ernst & Young (EY), Klynveld Peat Marwick Goerdeler (KPMG and Deloitte).
