Saraswati Puja Katha

According to mythological belief, the day of Basant Panchami is considered to be the day of appearance of Mother Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, art and speech. Its story is linked to the beginning of creation. According to the story, when Lord Brahma, the creator of the universe, created animals and humans, he felt something empty in his creation. Because there was silence and sadness all around. He was not satisfied to see his own creation so empty. Then he sprinkled water from his kamandalu, from which a goddess appeared with a supernatural beam of light.

The goddess had Veena in one hand, Vara Mudra in the other hand and a book and a rosary in the other two hands. There was a lot of anger on the face. The goddess bowed to Lord Brahma. Lord Brahma said, O Goddess! Everything in this universe is silent and dull. Brahma ji requested the goddess to play the veena. As soon as the Goddess made the melodious sound of the Veena, all the living beings in the world got speech. Music mingled in the winds, the water stream started gurgling and the whole nature started chirping. By listening, reading or narrating this story to others during worship, one gets the blessings of Goddess Saraswati.
