Karwa Chauth 2024: There is a belief regarding Karva Chauth that on this day the moon’s rays are not seen directly, there is a tradition of seeing them through a vessel or a sieve because the moon’s rays are especially effective in their arts. In folk tradition, the moon fills the relationship between husband and wife with light. Since the husband is also considered equivalent to the moon, hence after looking at the moon, the husband is immediately seen through the same filter. Another reason for this is said to be that the Moon should not be affected and there should be sweetness in the relationship between husband and wife.

According to astrologer and tarot card reader Nitika Sharma, a day or two before the fast of Karva Chauth, collect all the worship material and keep it in the temple of the house. The puja materials are as follows – earthen pot with spout and lid, water pot, Ganga water, lamp, cotton, incense sticks, sandalwood, kumkum, roli, akshat, flowers, raw milk, curd, desi ghee, honey, sugar, turmeric, rice. , sweets, sugar bag, mehendi, mahwar, vermilion, comb, bindi, chunri, bangle, nettle, yellow clay for making Gauri, wooden seat, sieve, Athavari of eight puris, halwa and dakshina money.

On Karva Chauth, fasting is observed throughout the day and the moon is worshiped at night. For this, the place of worship is decorated with chalk soil and the idol of Parvati is also installed. Traditionally puja is performed and the story of Karva Chauth is narrated. The fast of Karva Chauth is broken by seeing the moon, on that occasion the husband is also with him. The puja is started by lighting lamps.

In the worship of Karva Chauth, an earthen pot with a spout filled with water i.e. Karva, special items kept on the lamp above, all new items of adornment are necessary. Roli, rice, incense, lamp and flowers along with Doob are a must in the puja thali. Clay idols of Shiva, Parvati, Ganesha and Kartikeya are also placed in the pot on the platform. There is a rule to enshrine all the deities by making an altar of sand or white soil. Now silver Shiva and Parvati are kept in homes for worship. After decorating the plate, Arghya is offered to the moon. Then the whole day’s fast is broken by drinking sweet water from the husband’s hands. After that there is dinner with the family.
